Crossposting? - Livre d'Or

Crossposting?

So I'm considering cross-posting my Dreamwidth entries to LJ after all. Partly because I am a lot less annoyed with LJ than I was in 2009 (though now I'm trying to make an actual post here, goodness me the new update page is irritating!) Partly because LJ seems to be experiencing a bit of a revival and in some ways I'd like to be part of that. And for all its faults LJ has done a lot for the internet in the past 16 years.

For me, cross-posting is somewhat inconvenient as I am still happier at DW overall. But I think there are some potential downsides for my LJ friends as well, so, poll:

Poll #2009858 Do you want me back?

How would you feel about me crossposting my DW posts to LJ?

I'd prefer it, I'm more comfortable on LJ than DW
21(48.8%)
I would feel neutral, I'm happy with using both sites
16(37.2%)
I would be annoyed about your posts showing up twice
0(0.0%)
I would be annoyed about needing to follow discussions in both places
6(14.0%)
I would feel unsafe if Dreamwidth knew your LJ password and you could see my Friends Only entries
0(0.0%)
Some other option which I'll explain in comments
0(0.0%)

Your posts have been showing up twice for me for ages anyway, because I never got round to unsubscribing from liv_dw once I set up a native Dreamwidth reading page. And the fact that it's never occurred to me to unsubscribe from that feed in several years suggests that the duplication can't be annoying me too much :-)

Hah, completely reasonable evidence for why the duplication is not annoying!

What was a bit annoying was that the liv_dw versions of posts came without their spoiler tags, because those don't survive syndication. So I have unsubscribed, now that you've caused me to actually think about it, and am kicking myself for not having done it earlier :-)

FWIW, I've been crossposting all the time, because I have a few readers who refuse to look at DW. Once upon a time Facebook would pick up my blog posts automatically; now I put in links manually, or if they're short, just crosspost the content manually on Facebook. And now when I post, the vast majority of comments I get come on Facebook, with the remainder split between LJ and DW. It's an imperfect world.

Ugh, Facebook. There's no way I'm crossposting my DW stuff there, because I have a lot of professional and community contacts there who don't need to know about my private life and political opinions. But seeing your example and that of some other friends, it's clear that Facebook is where the engaged Jews of our generation are hanging out, and if I want to be part of that maybe I need to have more than the bare minimum of presence there. I'm glad you do get plenty of comment discussion over there, but my heart just sinks at trying to have conversations in FB's horrible interface.
