More about sharing domestic tasks
Monday, 23 October 2006 at 07:50 pm

Go back and look at the poll I posted a few days ago. I mean, totally, it's an LJ survey, it means nothing at all. But look at just how many women do the majority of the housework, and there's always a good reason for it; they just happen to be the one more bothered by dirt, or they're better at housework than their partner, or their partner works long hours so they have more time... In each individual case, it's of course nothing to do with gender, but I think there's something going on beyond just random chance here.

lack of conclusions )

I don't have any suggestions for what can be done about this, mind you.

Thank you for all your wonderful and thought-provoking suggestions for how to improve the general state of popular education. There were nine unique suggestions and some more from [info]robhu and [info]rysmiel who tried to sneak round my one suggestion only stipulation. Foolish people! Do not cross me when I give explicit warning that I'm in a mean mood.

Anyway, I promised there would be prizes, so here goes with the winners. *drumroll*

Highly commended:

Thank you to all who participated in such an interesting discussion. I very much like having chewy stuff to think about that isn't my thesis, at the moment. I also like the way the competition drew comments from several people who aren't regulars in my LJ; it's always nice to meet new people or hear from habitual lurkers. Yay.
