I've written a review of City of Golden Shadow, which I read while I was travelling across the country to go home for Xmas. And in a departure from my normal habits, I've also reviewed a film, Amélie, which I watched on Christmas TV.

just wanted to say hello.
not really a relevant message though, merely a keepin-in-touch kind of poke. glad you have experienced extreme weather conditions, and a weekend that sounded pretty cool (early december revelry). should see you in person at some point in the near future, i miss it, but it's my last uni year this year so...
anyway i've been browsing blogs for about 2 hours now, which is possibly a little excessive, so i should go to bed.. xx

Oh, hello, it's good to see you. And thanks for the poke. Though if you're trying to remind someone to get in touch, it's usually advisable to give some indication of your identity. I'm going to take a wild leap and assume you are the person I think you are. If you're not, this won't make any sense, but you have only yourself to blame for being so cryptic and anonymous.

Yes, the weekend early in December was excellently cool. Revelry is a good word for it.

I would love to meet up with you; I'm a finalist too (and like you, not for the first time), so it's not going to be the most practical, but still. You're more than welcome to visit me here if you can make it to Scotland at some point. But failing that, I am occasionally in London seeing lethargic_man and other friends, so maybe we can arrange something. End of March looks likely from this perspective, though I generally don't plan things in detail this far in advance.

It's amazing how reading blogs can eat up the hours once you start, absolutely!

And the reason I haven't written in the last couple of months is mainly cos I'm crap. But it's a little bit because I've been trying to write this. I haven't tried anything that could remotely be termed 'creative' in a long time. And really, I'm too old to get away with this kind of thing. But LJ is terrible for encouraging people to put the fruits o their talent (however small) on display. Don't feel obliged to like it; I have a fairly clear idea of how good it is. And yes, I will write you a proper catching up with news email soon.
